Beijing Exhibition Hall takes you into the future of China.
Cctv newsIn recent years, China has boosted its economic development by expanding the scale of infrastructure construction, accelerating the process of urbanization and promoting scientific and technological innovation. Today’s China, not to mention compared with the initial stage of reform and opening up, can be said to have undergone great changes only compared with ten years ago. In the next decade, China will gradually transform and change with each passing day.
If you want to know about China’s great achievements in recent years, especially in the last five years, and if you are also thinking about what China might look like in the future, then come to the Beijing Exhibition Hall. A large-scale exhibition about China’s outstanding achievements in the past five years — — "Five years of hard work". You will see China’s progress in infrastructure construction, science and technology, intelligent manufacturing and military fields. Through the exhibition, you will look forward to a brand-new future vision of China.
New era and new development
On the morning of November 8, 2017, as a foreign expert of CCTV, I was invited to visit the large-scale achievement exhibition of "Five Years of Striving". Before I entered the museum, I felt people’s enthusiasm: despite the cold weather, people came to see the exhibition in an endless stream, and there was a long queue outside the museum. Many people took photos in front of the beautiful flower beds with the distinctive Beijing Exhibition Hall building as the background.

I followed the crowd into the exhibition hall. The exhibition is rich in content and forms. Visitors can learn about China’s great achievements in the past five years through various photos and posters posted. There are also many models of large-scale projects, such as Fuxing high-speed rail, Jiaolong manned submersible, artificial sun, and Eye of the Sky FAST (500-meter aperture spherical radio telescope), which visitors can get in touch and feel at close range. In the special experience area, visitors can also experience some projects in person, such as flying driving and car driving with Beidou navigation system, and they can also "travel" around world-famous cities on smart bike-sharing.
Future high-tech era
Here, you can also see the future of China. I believe that the future of China is likely to be a new generation of "China Zhizao" which is led by Industry 4.0 and supported by Industry 4.0, covering the Internet of Things (IOT), artificial intelligence (AI), big data, drones, robot workers and intelligent logistics networks.
In the "Characteristic Experience Exhibition Area", through an "Internet tree", visitors can see the transformation of China from a "big country" to a "powerful country" on the road of Internet and informationization, and they can also see that Beidou satellite navigation system will provide all-weather and high-precision positioning and navigation services for China and the world, and they can also personally experience the airplane driving and car driving equipped with Beidou navigation system.
The exhibition area also exhibited China’s development vision in the fields of smart logistics, network security and smart life. At the scene, if visitors have time, they can also wait in line to receive a 3D work printed on the spot. Interestingly, the slurry used for 3D printing is actually extracted from potato starch!
What you can’t imagine is that under the impetus of "China Zhizao" based on Industry 4.0, new technologies will make China’s future factories more efficient, but the cost will be lower. Through the internet of things, factories can comprehensively monitor the whole process of their products from production to logistics to warehousing, and omit the links that need to be solved by the cooperation of many companies today.
Booths on deep learning and artificial intelligence in the exhibition area have also received much attention. China’s research on artificial intelligence (AI) is not a pioneer in the world, but it is catching up very quickly. China’s AI research and application are making new progress almost every day.
Some people say that AI "smart brain" will eventually surpass the human brain in intelligence and IQ. Therefore, some critics believe that once AI robots decide to rebel against their human masters, it will bring mankind into a dangerous situation. However, AI developers believe that human beings are the creators of AI and have completely mastered its programming. Therefore, if the AI robot starts to act in a reckless way, humans can easily shut down its programs.
New progress in rural medical care
One of the most popular and interesting exhibits in the exhibition is a "health service robot" that can carry out on-site rapid physical examination. Many visitors, especially the elderly, are waiting in line to feel the physical examination of the robot. The process of physical examination is that the examinee stands on a weight and height scale, puts his left arm into a blood pressure meter, and holds a heartbeat tester in his left hand. It only takes one or two minutes, and the physical examination results of the "health service robot" come out.
This "health service robot" is produced and manufactured by an enterprise in Xianyang, Shaanxi. According to the on-site staff, the biggest advantage of this "robot" is that it is "portable" compared with going to the hospital for physical examination. Therefore, it is especially suitable for relatively remote rural areas.
It only takes one or two minutes for the "health service robot" to complete the test, establish a medical file for each patient, and import the physical examination results into the local hospital’s medical system in real time. In this way, the doctor can know the patient’s condition at the first time, so as to provide treatment for the patient in time and effectively.
Meet the challenge and meet the beauty.
I think, just like the environment we live in today, there are many beautiful things, but there are also some shortcomings. China has made great progress in all fields. With an eye to the future, it will be full of confidence, actively respond to challenges, create more high-tech products, promote further economic development and further improve society.
When we marvel at all the new inventions and creations of mankind that make our life easier, we will inevitably feel the negative effects brought by science and technology in some aspects. For example, many people like to drive to work. Too many cars can easily lead to traffic jams and traffic accidents, but people do not refuse to use cars because of these negative effects.
Therefore, science and technology change society, not only in China, but also in the world. This is the trend. We should embrace the future and prepare for it. This may confirm the reason why the exhibition "Five Years of Striving" in Beijing Exhibition Hall can attract a flood of people to visit and get wide acclaim. This is also my personal feeling of exhibiting. (Author: Tom McGregor, American, foreign expert and commentator on CCTV)
