Xinhua News Agency, Mexico City, September 19 (Reporter Zhu Yubo, Wu Hao) The National Seismological Bureau of Mexico said on September 19 that an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 occurred in the western state of Michoacá n that afternoon. According to the information released by the National Seismological Bureau of Mexico, the earthquake occurred at 13: 05 local time on the 19th (2: 05 Beijing time on the 20th). The epicenter was located 63 kilometers south of Koman, Coard, Michoacan, with a focal depth of 15 kilometers. The magnitude previously measured by the National Seismological Bureau of Mexico was 7.4, which was later updated to 7.7.
Mexico’s civil defense department quoted data from the Mexican navy as saying that according to the analysis of the tsunami and earthquake in Mexico in the past, the earthquake may cause a wave height change of up to 82 cm in the waters near the epicenter.

The US Geological Survey measured the magnitude of the earthquake at 7.6. The U.S. Tsunami Warning Department says a dangerous tsunami may occur along the coast within 300 kilometers of the epicenter.
