No longer limited to Safari, Apple’s iOS 18 relaxes Apple Pay restrictions: browsers such as Chrome/Firefox also support iPhone scan code payment.

On June 14 th, Apple released the iOS 18 Beta 1 update this week.Users who have upgraded the beta version can now use Apple Pay on any desktop web browser (such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.).

After iPhone users upgrade iOS 18, they will use Apple Pay to check out on a desktop browser other than Safari, and a new QR code will appear on the screen. After users open the camera application to scan the code, they can pay for the checkout on the iPhone side.

Apple provided more details about the system at the coding conference released today. Website developers need to adopt the latest Apple Pay SDK, so it will take some time for the website to fully roll out this function.

Note: Apple Pay on the desktop network was previously limited to Safari on the Mac, so this is a long-awaited attempt to extend this function to more browsers and devices.
